Chrystal earned a BFA in photography from the Alberta College of Art & Design, in Canada. She received the Board of Governors Award, Bob Ranson Memorial Scholarship, John H. & Kathleen Snow Scholarship, and the Photographic Arts Merit Award. Since graduating, she has assisted photographers with advertising, editorial work, and analogue darkroom production, whilst pursuing her own photo-based art practice. In 2007 she relocated to the UK, and was commissioned to create lens-based public engagement projects at the University of Bristol.
She is currently a MA Multidisciplinary Printmaking student, a degree programme which is part of the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England (UWE). There is a huge collection of artists' books and amazing resources for all aspects of artists' publishing, for more information go here.
Chrystal is interested in making artists' books that act as a portal, a place for otherworldly photographic collage and automatic writing, and to be intimate vessels of imagery and ideas.
